O chinês Don Hong-Oai não é muito conhecido entre nós. Somente quando se fixou nos Estados Unidos na década de 90, e começou a expor, adquiriu notoriedade. Não é difícil, porém, deslumbrar-nos perante as obras deste artista; mais difícil é aceitarmos que se tratam de fotografias, uma vez que se assemelham fortemente às tradicionais estampas. Curiosamente não há nenhum processo digital em todo o seu trabalho. Na verdade as fotografias de Hong-Oai são obtidas na câmara escura através da composição de diversos negativos sobrepostos de modo a criar uma paisagem harmoniosa, se bem que inteiramente artificial.

The Chinese artist Don Hong-Oai is not well known among us. Only when he settled in the United States in the 90's, and began to expound, acquired notoriety. It's not difficult, however, dazzled us with the works of this artist, but is more difficult to accept that these are photographs, since they strongly resemble the traditional prints. In fact the photographs of Hong Oai are obtained in the darkroom by the composition of several overlapping negative to create a harmonious landscape, though entirely artificial.
